Tucson, AZ | 2019
The new 11-story clinical tower for the region's only academic medical center replaces an aging portion of the existing hospital, updating and expanding operating rooms and elevating the patient experience with all-private patient rooms.
The tower will include 336 patient beds and 22 operating rooms, as well as a new main entrance. The 1971 building will remain part of the medical campus, but will be repurposed for use as administrative space.
The clinical tower represents a major component in the implementation of the medical center's master plan, completed by Shepley Bulfinch in 2012. The firm also completed the hospital?s surgical services renovation and expansion in 2013. Shepley Bulfinch is the design architect for the tower, in association with GLHN Architects and Engineers of Tucson.
