Colby College, Davis Science Building
Waterville, MA | 2014
Colby's Davis Science Building gives the departments of mathematics, computer science, and psychology individual identities that reflect their unique collaborative approaches to teaching and learning. The math department is supported with group study spaces near faculty offices that integrate research and meeting space, while the computer science department collaborates in a large open and flexible robotics lab flanked by faculty research spaces. To support the psychology department's research requirements, a range of spaces include interview rooms and multiple waiting areas. The programs' proximity supports the overlapping curricula of math and computer science and the larger community of learning. The building will be the fourth on the Colby green, a precinct proposed in Shepley Bulfinch's campus master plan update.
The firm completed Lunder House, Colby's admissions office and the first building on the Green, in 1992; and Olin Science Center in 1996.
