Davidson College, Campus Master Plan

Davidson, NC | 2010

This Master Plan gives physical form to Davidson’s 2009 Strategic Plan and its emphasis on enhancing diversity and interdisciplinary perspectives by increasing students, faculty, and staff. The proposed development of much-needed academic, residential, and student life facilities will include new spaces that support interdisciplinary teaching and research. Decompressing existing academic buildings will create informal learning spaces - neither classroom nor faculty office - to foster faculty-student interaction in an environment of informal learning. Improved circulation structures will provide a more coherent pedestrian and vehicle experience. Expanded athletic and recreation facilities will support varsity athletics, club sports, and intramurals, as well as health and wellness programs, while enhancing the campus center will strengthen its role as the heart of the community.
