Endicott College, Center for the Arts
Beverly, MA | 2008
The Center for the Arts gives Endicott a cultural education, exhibit, and performance hub. Sited on a slope overlooking two campus lakes, it is also a landmark and visual symbol for the school’s arts community. Flexible learning spaces encourage student and faculty collaboration, while studios, practice rooms, and computer labs support the Center’s programs. Performance space includes a 250-seat recital hall and a 100-seat black box theater for drama, dance, and technical theater workshops. The museum-quality gallery hosts visiting art exhibits and local shows, while student works are displayed in their own gallery. Students passing through the light-filled atrium as they cross campus may look into gallery spaces or find musicians performing near the sweeping stair on the atrium’s informal stage. Shepley Bulfinch was the project’s design architect in association with Stanmar Design and Construction.
