Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Community Hospital Expansion and Renovation
Rochester, NH | 2008
The expansion and renovation of Frisbie Hospital gives this community hospital a new identity as well as a prominent and clear new front entrance. The first phase of this three-phase expansion is a new 88,700 s.f. building and the renovation of 22,600 s.f. of associated space. This will provide the hospital with a renovated emergency department and private patient rooms, as well as new cardiology and maternity departments.
Natural elements are emphasized in the design of the hospital campus. This includes the use of natural light to the greatest extent possible, as well as plans for a healing garden and outdoor seating for the cafeteria. A welcoming tone is set upon arrival with a warm and inviting central waiting area which offers views and light. For ease of circulation and operational efficiency, an open stair connects the first and second levels of the treatment space.
