Lehigh University, University Center

Bethlehem, PA | 2021

This renovation and addition infuses new life into Lehigh's 19th century iconic University Center as a place for community and connection at the heart of the historic campus.

A new north-south campus connector opens up views through the building, defining a central gathering space and emphasizing the building's verticality as it mediates the grade change and unites the academic and residential sides of the campus. In complement, a new pavilion on the UC's south side will be a campus 'living room,' with open and flexible event space. The landmark Victorian building's infrastructure will be completely overhauled and its cherished historic spaces carefully preserved, refreshed, and equipped for dining and a wide range of events.

The surrounding campus landscape complements the new life within, inviting University Center activities to spill out onto a series of outdoor terraces and green spaces.
