This mixed-use project carefully balances neighborhood historic preservation and vibrant, new street activation. Linking the transit-oriented Downtown Gateway with a quieter residential neighborhood along 2nd Avenue, McKinley Green stitches together two distinct urban settings.
The new multi-family high-rise consists of 383 units, semi-public exterior spaces, and retail space. To accommodate the desired density while abiding by zoning codes, the project team designed multiple towers and walk-up town home units to break down the scale of the block.
Outdoor terraces above the parking garage and the top of the main tower provide remarkable views to the Phoenix skyline and the desert Valley.
To preserve the area’s residential character, our team engaged with the active historic board to design an appropriate project for the neighborhood that still met the client’s dynamic program and vision.
The pedestrian paseo on ground level brings people into the center of the project.
