RISE on Apache
Tempe, AZ
A rooftop jumbotron. A 15-person hot tub. A rock climbing wall. A 24-hour fitness center and regulation-size running track. This is definitely not your parent’s dormitory. RISE on Apache is designed for Arizona State University (ASU) students who desire more out of college living.
RISE on Apache is one of the tallest structures in Tempe. A design challenge was to site the building within the tight property footprint and to scale its size to neighboring buildings.
Located directly across the street from the ASU campus, RISE on Apache offers an amenity-rich, off-campus housing experience for 833 students. The development features a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and four-bedroom floor plans, ranging in size from 322 to 1,359 sf. Three shaded outdoor decks invite students to come together, while the highest rooftop pool in Tempe offers relief from the harsh Arizona heat. Other unexpected features include a sauna, outdoor grills, and golf and ski simulators. Shepley Bulfinch provided programming, planning, interiors, and design services for RISE on Apache.
Each apartment is fully furnished with designer furniture, and features wood-grain flooring, modern kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, flat screen televisions, and in-unit laundry.
To date, Shepley Bulfinch has designed 2.5 million sf of high-end residential developments at nine locations across the United States for CA Student Living. CA Student Living is one of the country’s leading student housing developers.
Inside, concrete and exposed ceilings create an urban feel. Outside, natural rust-hued metal panels are interspersed in vertical stripes against light-finished concrete panels to create balance.
Large-scale exterior and interior murals by local artists infuse a street art aesthetic.
