The John M. O’Quinn Law Building at the University of Houston is more than a new home for the Law Center — it’s a dynamic space designed to foster community connection, collaborative learning, and interdisciplinary legal education.

This state-of-the-art facility features instructional classrooms, advocacy skills labs, a fully equipped courtroom, event venues, and a comprehensive law library. Every element is crafted to support a student-centered experience while welcoming faculty, visitors, and the broader Houston community.

At the heart of the building’s mission is the Law Clinic, where students provide essential legal services to local residents. This hands-on experience not only enhances legal training but also strengthens the Law Center’s role as a vital resource for the city.

Framing views of downtown Houston, the building’s architecture reinforces its civic presence and connection to the city. A thoughtful use of local materials grounds the structure in its context, aligning with the university’s long-term campus vision while creating a bold, iconic identity for the Law Center.

A series of double-height collaboration zones, connected by open staircases, encourage spontaneous interaction and flexible use — from study sessions to community events. Warm, natural materials and textures create an inviting atmosphere that supports both academic focus and social connection.

The law library offers a range of study environments, from quiet individual spaces to collaborative group areas. A daylit reading room, student lounge, and informal seating throughout the building ensure that every member of the Law Center community can find a place to thrive.
