Boston Children’s Hospital Wins Green Good Design Award
The Hale Family Building of Boston Children’s Hospital was recognized by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in the Green Good Design Sustainability Awards.
Good Design was founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr., to promote Modern Design among the general public. The Green Awards were established in 2007 and incorporates strict guidelines to center the ideas of sustainability and ecological restoration.
The Hale Family Building’s healing gardens, completed with landscape architecture Mikyoung Kim Design, revolutionizes healthcare design through healing neuroinclusive spaces. Rather than focusing on a single, central open space or a kit-of-parts strategy, as is often the case in healthcare facilities, a collection of gardens deploys infuses biophilic and human-centered design elements throughout the hospital.
