Shepley Bulfinch Launches Lens Practice Group
(March 13, 2024) Shepley Bulfinch announced today its repositioning of Lens – a design strategy, research, and innovation practice within the firm that guides clients as they explore and address the fundamental and intersecting challenges of change and transformation, well-being, social equity, and environmental stewardship. The team leads design strategy development through creative engagements that often combine several service offerings, including participatory visioning and planning, developing organizations, regenerative design and development, managing change, and measuring design impact.
This new launch of Lens extends Shepley Bulfinch’s core mission to design beyond what’s expected, using skill, insight, research, and imagination to design a future that involves and benefits everyone. The multi-disciplinary Lens team consists of in-house design strategists who, as practicing architects, interior designers, and planners with deep knowledge of their clients’ sectors, can act as thinking partners as they guide clients and communities in developing pragmatic yet transformative solutions to complex challenges.
The team’s national experience includes academic institutions, healthcare, urban development, workplaces, and civic and cultural institutions. The team also works with design practices, manufacturers, and others that shape the built environment, helping these organizations to build internal capacity and develop unique and purpose-aligned strategic initiatives.
Shepley Bulfinch President and CEO Angela Watson reflects, “We work in a dynamic industry that is changing and evolving. Lens will help us look beyond the traditional boundaries of architecture to develop holistic responses to complex questions at the intersections of space, strategy, and culture. This will amplify our broader efforts as a firm to help our clients, communities, and planet to flourish.”
